Summer Update

We arrived in Georgia on the 29 June 2009.  Our first stop after arriving in the States was Operation Mobilization for a few days of rest and relaxation before taking our first church meeting.  Then we headed up to Maryland for a week with our family.  This was also a time for Sue and me to go by my home church, The Worship Center, to say hi.

The 7th of July we had our first meeting with The Worship Center Ladies Bible Study.  A few days later on the 10th of July, we left for the Southwest Conference in Louisiana.  Then we were off to the Mid –South Conference in Mississippi.  After the Mid-South Conference, we headed straight over to the Eastern Conference.  After the conferences were over it was then time to start our very busy schedule of church visits throughout Georgia and South Carolina.  Sue and I, really appreciated everyone who opened their homes to us to stay while we were in the States for our home assignment.

With sadness in our hearts, we will be saying good-bye to all of you on the 25th of August when we head back home to England.  However, we are anxiously looking forward to getting back to the United Kingdom, our family and work.

Thank you for your support

Thank you for your financial gifts of support.  You are a continuous source of joy and encouragement to us as you faithfully pray for us and stand with us financially.  Our hearts feel truly blessed when we think of our faithful prayer partners standing in the gap for us.
We appreciate the love and kindness that you have shown during our home assignment.  You blessed us with your hospitality by opening your homes to us while we were traveling to the conferences.  Thank you for your desire to meet our needs when we told you of them.  Thank you for all of your love offerings that helped with the expenses of our home assignment.

Monthly support level

Thank you for supporting this ministry, both in praying and financial gifts over the past seven years.  At our current support target, we have met 80% of the total financial support needed.  Effective September 2009 our support is going up to $2,575.00 a month.  We are asking our Lord for new supporters to help us to meet 100%.

Sarah and Luke
When we came over to the States, we had to leave Sarah and Luke back in Britain..This was a strain on Sue, as she had not left them behind for this long and at this great distance.  They both are heading in different directions.  Sarah has moved to Hampshire to attend college.  This summer, she attended orientation so she could learn her way around the college and get to know some of the tutors and students with whom she will be working when she starts in September.  Luke finished college in June and is now going to further his education at an IT academy in Edgbaston on the outskirts of Birmingham; this will be for a period of 6 months.  Therefore, this has been a big change for all of us and certainly for Sue, as when she goes home she has to adapt to having one less teenager in the house for most of the time.  Sue will be returning to work at the reception desk and is looking forward to training another volunteer to work the desk.  That will mean even less time the staff will have to leave their fields to work a shift at the reception desk, which will be appreciated.  Also, Sue is still thinking and praying about in which direction she should go, whether she should continue on, with Doug and help in his ministry or to go on a separate path of her own.  The time spent here in the States has certainly been a very interesting and challenging one for Sue. She has not spent this much time in another country and never really had the opportunity to speak to so many people and on such a personal level.  She enjoyed sharing her testimony at the various churches and WMS meetings.  This has given her more opportunity to get involved with the ministry on a much larger scale.  It was nerve racking and certainly took her out of her comfort zone but has certainly helped to give her self confidence a boost.

Prayer Requests

Pray that we will meet the 100% of our support target each month.
Pray for Sarah and Luke as they take this next big step in their lives.
Pray that Sue will learn what it is that God wants her to do in her ministry.
